"Advertising is an art that should inspire, not annoy," Elon Musk believes. In a world where advertising has become an integral part of our daily lives,
Musk is resolutely going against the tide. The founder of Tesla and SpaceX has not spent money on advertising his electric vehicles for many years,
relying on word of mouth from car owners and enthusiastic customer reviews.
Advertisement: Friend or Foe?
Musk believes that traditional advertising is an outdated tool that does not always bring the expected results. Instead of investing millions in
advertising campaigns, he prefers to invest in product quality. That, in his opinion, should speak for itself.
Word of Mouth and Efficiency
Tesla has been successfully using word of mouth for a long time – the oral transmission of information from one car owner to another.
When a person sees a neighbor on an electric car, asks him questions, learns about the advantages and disadvantages. It is more effective
than any advertisement.
Changing the Strategy
Last May, Musk announced his intention to "advertise his cars a little bit." He conducted a small advertising trial
to evaluate the effectiveness of this approach. The results were interesting, but Musk does not consider advertising to be the main promotion tool.
Firing Marketers
And now Elon Musk has fired the entire Tesla marketing team in the United States. The reason? The advertisement was too ordinary. Musk
wants Tesla to stand out, inspire, and not just litter the space. This decision is caused not only by the desire to reduce costs,
but also the desire to preserve the uniqueness of the brand.
